Press release - Ingram Micro Data Capture/POS Division and Samport enter strategic partnership
Ingram Micro DC/POS Division and Samport Payment Services have signed a strategic agreement. Utilizing Samport's software and card processing capabilities, Ingram Micro will leverage their reseller network to market and sell card payment terminals. Sweden will be the first market where the offering will be launched and more markets are to follow.
Ingram Micro Inc. is the world's largest technology distributor. As a vital link in the technology value chain, Ingram Micro creates sales and profitability opportunities for vendors and resellers through unique marketing programs, logistics services, technical support, financial services and product aggregation and distribution. The new Ingram Micro Data Capture/POS (Point-Of-Sales) Division specialises in value-added data capture and POS technologies and delivers adjacent technologies to provide complete end-to-end solutions, services and support.
Samport specialises in helping banks, large merchants and system vendors handle the demands of secure, effective and cost efficient debit and credit card transactions, whether through payment over the Internet or in retail stores.
Ingram Micro and Samport have now entered a partnership to offer card payment terminals from multiple terminal vendors with Samport's software and processing services. In this strategic cooperation, Samport will be responsible for the functionality of the terminals as well as the development of value added services. Ingram Micro will bring in its vendor relationships, large customer base and expertise in the distribution, logistics and financial services associated with the sales of terminals.
The Nordic countries are now introducing the new chip and PIN-technology also known as EMV. The risk of fraud will be reduced due to advanced chip technology, on the cards as well as in the terminals. Market studies show that the number of terminals to be replaced in the Nordic countries could exceed 500 000 during the next coming years.
