In the Swedish TV channel today, SVT, the increasing problem of card fraud over the Internet was discussed.

The number of fraudulent transactions online is increasing heavily. Between January and May 2008 the number of reported fraudulent transaction in Sweden increased with 23 percent compared to same period last year.

During the first six months in 2007 were 1.500 online fraud transactions reported. So far this year around 3.500 online fraud transactions are reported.

- The problem of card fraud is not something new but the last year we have identified a rapid increase. Banks and large merchants need to make sure that they have an advanced and well developed anti-fraud system to be able to handle the numerous and diverse threats, says Fredrik Rehnvall, Fraud and Risk Manager at Samport.
